Graphic Arts

Lately I've been playing around with graphic arts.
Creating art from words and images to invoke feelings.
I'm trying to play with text and colors to help get across points, so while the words make you feel something based off how you perceive their meanings , I want the the visual impact to be just as strong. Hence, bold caps "So here's me" (this is important; a strong statement is about to be made), "making a better effort" not as bold, a statement that something isn't always done and that's being acknowledged, "I love you as well" red, pretty text to convey the passion behind the statement.

It could use some more work, but as a first go I'm fairly please with the effort.

ABC Art - 26 Day Challenge

I have online shopping tenancies (probably because I sit at a desk all day... yes, let's blame it on that). But one of the neat things that comes out of that is sometimes the ad emails they send bring upon neat revelations of "hey! I can do that!"
Most currently, I got an email from a site that allows you to type in words, and it creates your letters with images that look like that letter.
 Anyway!
Over the first 26 days of September I'm going to try to find a letter a day (and post my findings) and at the end, make up my own ABC art with images that I've found.

Are there words that you'd love to do the same with?

Little mittens for little hands

I had a bit of downtime last night,  and wanted to whip up something fast. Every year I try to do homemade gifts for my nieces and nephew (and friends if I get time!), and every year I end up pulling all nighters on Christmas eve to get stuff done. So this year.. when I have some down time I'm trying to squeeze in a couple of quick mini projects that will help to complement christmas gifts.
Thanks to my self-striping yarn... they look pretty darn cute!

If you're looking for a pair for your little one (or your big one... I do adult mittens too), send me an email and I'll get back to you regarding timing/prices.

5 Days of Crafts, Day 5

Today is crafting in the kitchen!
These egg bites will hopefully keep me going with the health eating kick next week. It's been pretty easy to make breakfast being off this week, but I always seem to struggle with my timing in the morning (although I have perfected the up and out the door in 15 minutes... sometimes things like breakfast fall by the way side)

5 Days of Crafts, Day 3

I'm going to have to put together days 3 and 4.
My craft for these days is to make a cute little knitted headband with a crocheted flower for my niece.

 Pattern:
Cast on 30st
knit 1 row, turn
purl 1 row, turn

Repeat alternating the rows until reaching the desired length (in my case, 19" for a 2 year old).
Cast off

Join ends together.

5 days of crafts, Day 2

Missed posting yesterday...
Yesterday was a graphic arts kind of day. Looking for design ideas for a new logo for an ultimate league this is a rough go at one of the ideas.
I first started by sketching out my design on paper (deep down inside... I'm a paper and pencil kinda girl) and scanning it in, I was able to bring the scan into Photoshop. Very kindly, a friend let me play with his Microsoft Surface. After finally getting the hang of it (mostly) I was able to duplicate the image that I had sketched out.
The lines need a bit of smoothing, but all in all for a first go at things... I was pretty impressed with the ease of it all.

5 days of crafts, Day 1

I'm on holidays this week! (Well.. between the end of one job, and the beginning of another... but I'm still going to call it a holiday!)
Cleaning out my craft room, I realized that I have quite a few supplies that I've purchased over the years that haven't gotten used. So, with my week off I'm going to attempt a craft a day and see if I can't use some of them up.
Goal:
1 craft per day using only supplies I currently have on hand.
Day 1: Felt elephant plushie
